Knight ATV fender speaker pods installed on a Can-Am Outlander

Can-Am Outlander Speaker Kit: Waterproof Fender Speaker Pods Built for Your Outlander

You're out on the trail and the Outlander drowns out your phone speaker after the first gear change. Bar-mounted speakers get in the way, and most of them don't survive a real wash-down.

The Knight ATV Can-Am Outlander speaker kit puts two marine-grade 6.5" speakers (or upgrade to 8") inside custom pods that bolt to your front fenders. Our pods are laser-scanned to the Outlander fender, so they sit where they belong, not on your handlebars.

Why the Outlander pods

  • Built only by Knight ATV. No one else makes a fender-mounted speaker pod system like it. Each pod is laser-scanned to fit your machine.
  • Marine-grade 6.5" or 8" speakers with a Bluetooth marine amplifier. Up to 139 dB, recorded by a third party.
  • RGB LEDs you control with the included remote or the iOS/Android app.
  • Plug-and-play wiring harness. No wire cutting or splicing. You drill the mounting holes and plug everything in.
  • 2-year warranty. Free US shipping on orders over $100, and Shop Pay lets you split it into 4 payments.

Tools You'll Need

Every Knight ATV speaker pod kit installs with the same two tools: a 1/4" drill bit and a 5/32" hex driver.

  • Drill and a 1/4" drill bit
  • 5/32" hex driver
  • Marker
  • Wrench or socket for the mounting nuts
  • Dielectric grease
  • Zip ties

Time and Difficulty

  • Difficulty: easy to moderate. If you can drill four holes and plug in connectors, you can do this.
  • Good to know: the install is the same on every make and model we sell, and it's the same for 6.5" and 8" speakers. Only the pod shape changes.
  • Rear speakers too? Install and test the front kit first. Rear speakers don't change anything about the front install.

Step-by-Step Can-Am Outlander Speaker Pod Install

Mount the pods

  1. Find the pod's spot. Each pod only sits correctly in one place on the fender. Slide it around until it settles flush.
  2. Mark and drill the four mounting holes. Drill the top two first and set those screws loosely. That holds the pod steady while you drill the bottom two.
  3. Drill the wire hole. Drill one more hole for the wiring, on the side toward the inside of the ATV.
  4. Warning sticker. If the pod covers a factory warning sticker, move the sticker somewhere visible.
  5. Bolt the pod down. Use a washer, screw and nut on each bolt. Snug it, don't crank it, because these bolts go into plastic.

Wire it up

  1. Connect the main harness. It runs to the battery and to the main pod. It has three differently shaped connectors:

    • The triangle connector goes to the waterproof push button.
    • The black connector goes to the voltage booster (the silver box). Its other side is already plugged into the amp.
    • One amp channel is pre-wired to the speaker in that pod.
  2. Grease every connector. Put a dab of dielectric grease on each one before you plug it in.

  3. Run the speaker extension. Route it under the front fender to the other pod and plug it in.
  4. Connect the LEDs. Plug in the LED controller, lining up the arrows on the connectors. Then run the LED extension to the other pod.
  5. Hook up the battery. Red to positive (+), black to negative (−).

Power on and pair

  1. Turn it on. Press the push button. A tone confirms the system has power.
  2. Pair your phone. Connect to "Knight ATV" in your Bluetooth settings.
  3. Set up the LED remote. Pull the battery tab, then pick your color or mode. You can use the app instead if you prefer.
  4. Pair the smart remote. It shows up in Bluetooth as "Smart Remote".
  5. Tidy up. Once everything works, zip-tie the wires away from hot and moving parts.

If You Purchased Rear Speakers

Rear speakers don't change the front install at all. Finish the front kit, make sure it plays, then add the rear pods.

Your Outlander Rear speakers Price
2012-2026 Outlander Outlander rear sound system (choose Model 1 or 2) $359.99 Black / $389.99 colors

Want front and rear in one order? The Can-Am Outlander surround sound speaker bundle packs both, from $899.99.

Each rear kit includes:

  • two 4" marine speakers
  • a non-Bluetooth amp
  • a 5 ft cable
  • LED extensions and splitters
  • a power splitter wire
  • an auxiliary cord with a built-in audio isolator, which runs from the main amp to the slave amp (nothing separate to install)
  • hardware and a 2-year warranty

Same two tools: a 1/4" drill bit and a 5/32" hex driver.

  1. Mount the rear pods. Find the spot where each one sits flush on the rear fender, mark and drill the holes, and drill one more hole on each side for the wires.
  2. Mount the rear (slave) amp. On most models it goes inside your front right speaker housing.
  3. Add the power splitter. In the main front pod, unplug the harness-to-booster connection and plug the splitter in line. Run its other end to the rear amp. Grease the connections.
  4. Connect the aux cord. Plug it into aux out on the front amp, then into aux in on the rear amp (the port near the other wiring, not the one in the middle). The audio isolator is built into this cord.
  5. Run the speaker wires. Connect each rear amp channel to its rear speaker, routing the wires along the frame away from hot and moving parts.
  6. Split the LEDs. On each front speaker, plug an LED splitter in line with the arrows lined up, then run an LED extension back to each rear speaker.
  7. Bolt down, power on and test. Mount the rear speakers, turn the system on, listen for the tone and play something through all four speakers. Zip-tie everything.

For photos of every rear step, see our rear fender speaker install guide. The rear install starts at about the 5-minute mark of the video above.

Troubleshooting

  • No power or no tone. Check the polarity at the battery (red to +), and make sure the black connector is fully seated in the booster.
  • LEDs are out on one side. Re-seat the LED connectors with the arrows lined up.
  • One speaker is silent. Check the speaker extension that runs under the fender to the second pod.
  • Your phone can't find it. Look for "Knight ATV" in Bluetooth, not "Smart Remote".
  • Rear speakers are silent. Check the aux cord (aux out on the front amp to aux in on the rear amp) and the power splitter at the booster.

FAQ

Are the Outlander speaker pods really waterproof? They use marine-grade speakers and a marine amplifier, built for mud, rain and wash-downs.

Do I have to cut or splice any wires? No. The harness is plug-and-play. You only drill the mounting holes and one wire hole per pod.

Will it fit my 2020 Outlander 850? Yes. A 2017-2024 Outlander 1000, 850 or 650 takes Model 1. A 2017-2023 Outlander 570 or 450 takes Model 3, and every 2025-2026 Outlander takes Model 2.

Is the 8" kit installed differently from the 6.5" kit? No. The steps are exactly the same. Only the speaker size changes.

Do rear speakers change how the front pods go in? No. Install the front kit exactly as above, then add the rear pods.

Can I control the lights from my phone? Yes. Use the iOS/Android app or the included LED remote.
